Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Alfred Health Full time

Alfred Health stands at the forefront of healthcare provision, innovation, research, and education. We serve as the primary health service provider for residents in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, offering a comprehensive range of services from outpatient care to inpatient and community-based support.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to reach out to the relevant department prior to submitting their applications.

This role encompasses specialized training in chemical pathology, covering essential areas such as routine biochemistry, endocrine assessments, protein and drug analysis—including immunosuppressive medications and toxicology—as well as advanced testing for heavy metals and clinical management of patients with significant abnormal test results. The position also involves management responsibilities, including quality assurance and occupational health and safety, alongside relevant information technology components.

As a vital link in the clinical operations of the laboratory, this role will play a key part in staff training and the evaluation of novel testing methodologies. A proactive interest in research activities is both encouraged and supported.

This position is ideally suited for individuals participating in the joint training program of the RACP/RCPA in Chemical Pathology/Endocrinology or the RCPA Chemical Pathology program. The recruitment process for 2025 will feature a collaborative interview system with other Chemical Pathologists across Victoria.

Applicants must possess legal qualifications as medical practitioners and be registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Alfred Health is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and actively encourages applications from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In accordance with the Victorian Chief Health Officer's Mandatory Vaccination Directions, all employees of Alfred Health are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with a TGA-approved vaccine and must provide proof of their vaccination status.
