Cemetery Services Operator

Job Summary:

This permanent, full-time position is responsible for providing cemetery services.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including excavating and refilling graves, lowering coffins into graves, grave maintenance, placement of memorial plaques and markers, and attending interments into vaults and crypts.

  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with statutory regulations and policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of work practices by contributing to team meetings and discussions and sharing information and techniques with other staff members and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Excavating and refilling graves using plant, machines and/or hand tools.
  • Lowering coffins into graves as per Burial Procedures.
  • Grave maintenance including management of subsidence.
  • Placement of memorial plaques and markers at graves.
  • Placement of ashes into walls and placing plaques.
  • Attending interments into vaults and crypts.
  • Assisting in exhumations of bodies from graves in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A MR Drivers Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience operating excavator and/or skid steer.
  • A Current NSW WorkCover accredited First Aid Certificate.
  • A Current NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to WHS principles and practices.
  • The ability and willingness to undertake physical manual work.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
