Job Title: Animal Health Specialist

The role of the Animal Health Specialist involves working on the frontline of animal and plant health, pest and weed management, and biosecurity response and recovery efforts.

This position requires a hands-on and community-focused individual to deliver on-ground biosecurity programs that safeguard our region from threats to agriculture and the environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pest and weed management, and biosecurity principles. They must also be able to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Excellent communication skills and a focus on customer service and community engagement are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver on-ground biosecurity programs to safeguard our region from threats to agriculture and the environment.
  • Undertake fieldwork and compliance tasks related to pest animals, weeds, and disease management.
  • Support emergency response, surveillance, and disease investigations.
  • Build strong relationships with landholders, communities, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and support program evaluation.
Requirements:
  • A strong understanding of pest and weed management, and biosecurity principles.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a focus on customer service and community engagement.
  • Appropriate certifications or the ability to obtain them (e.g., pesticide qualifications, firearms licence).
  • A current driver's license and a willingness to travel.
