The position of Leadership Development Specialist is a key role within the Leadership and Professional Growth Team. The primary goal of this role is to cultivate, develop, and sustain high-quality educational leadership aligned to the strategic and operational objectives of the organization. This includes designing and implementing targeted leadership development programs to support the growth and effectiveness of school leaders.

  • Develop Assistant Principals and Middle Leaders through coaching and mentoring, promoting reflective practice to guide ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Design and implement differentiated professional learning pathways aligned to relevant standards, supporting leadership development from emerging leaders through to executive roles.
  • Facilitate structured induction and ongoing leadership development programs for school-based leaders.
  • Evaluate leadership development by tracking the growth, effectiveness, and impact of school leaders and assessing program outcomes and leadership capacity needs.
  • Support the delivery and monitoring of the System Professional Learning Strategy to promote continuous growth and system-wide improvement.
  • Facilitate appraisals for Assistant Principals, Middle Leaders, and other school leaders where applicable in alignment with leadership expectations.
  • Conduct research and engage with stakeholders to inform the development of evidence-based leadership strategies and policies grounded in contemporary educational research.

In order to be successful in this role, applicants must have extensive demonstrated experience leading the development of Middle Leaders in a school environment. They should also have demonstrated experience leading professional learning and development initiatives, as well as the ability to design and implement differentiated professional learning pathways.

Applicants are required to have:

  • A Master's degree in Educational Leadership or a relevant postgraduate equivalent.
  • Extensive experience at a Principal/Assistant Principal leadership level or system equivalent.
  • A current understanding of leadership theory and evidence-based practices in educational settings.
