The Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) / Registered Nurse (RN) plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional primary health care to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
As a crucial member of the multidisciplinary team, this role is dedicated to maintaining cultural integrity and advocating for clients.
- Bachelor of Nursing and/or Certificate IV in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice).
- Current registration as an AHP/Nurse with relevant professional bodies.
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in delivering comprehensive primary health care using standard treatment protocols.
- Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, history, and knowledge of contemporary issues impacting on Indigenous Australians.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact in cross-cultural settings.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Capacity to work independently, prioritizing tasks efficiently, and utilizing strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and clinical software.
- Desirable: Remote health or emergency care experience, coupled with working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services or similar environments.
