Senior Payroll Specialist

The Department of Health seeks a seasoned payroll expert to oversee our payroll services.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Stay up-to-date on issues affecting departmental employees and lead critical projects that develop policies, professional standards, and operating procedures.
  2. Foster strong connections across departments and with external stakeholders to facilitate a collaborative approach.
  3. Identify and manage emerging risks and areas of concern for the government, department, and community.
  4. Work with senior management to establish and achieve key performance indicators and standards.
Leadership and Team Development
  1. Support individuals to reach their full potential and contribute to organisational goals and outcomes.
  2. Model behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values.
  3. Monitor specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans related to the area of responsibility.
  4. Proactively build and maintain positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organisation.
Strategic Planning and Advice
  1. Provide strategic thinking and future planning to enhance payroll customer service levels, reduce processing errors, and ensure responsive payroll services.
  2. Represent the department on key government and non-government committees and bodies.
  3. Monitor and review the quality of payroll services and systems, making recommendations for continuous improvement in service delivery and quality.
