We are seeking an accomplished Payroll Professional to join our team.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise in managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance and efficiency. Your role will be pivotal in driving payroll transformation by collaborating with leaders across HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors to elevate payroll into a strategic business function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the full payroll cycle for all employees, guaranteeing timely and compliant delivery.
  • Maintain and enhance payroll systems, records, and reporting processes to ensure seamless operations.
  • Lead payroll audits and collaborate with external auditors to maintain the highest standards of compliance.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex payroll queries and resolve issues with clarity and confidence.
  • Partner with Finance and HR on payroll reconciliations and reporting to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Transformation & Improvement
  • Lead payroll transformation projects, including system upgrades and process redesign to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Identify and implement automation and digitisation opportunities to streamline payroll processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Develop clear, streamlined payroll procedures and documentation to facilitate ease of use and understanding.
  • Integrate payroll seamlessly with broader business systems and processes to ensure smooth operations.
  • Benchmark operations against industry best practice and drive continuous improvement.
Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure full compliance with awards, enterprise agreements, tax, superannuation, and employment law.
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on payroll to ensure proactive compliance.
  • Implement robust controls and risk mitigation measures to safeguard payroll operations.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Lead, coach, and mentor payroll team members to foster high performance and engagement.
  • Serve as the payroll subject matter expert (SME) across business projects and initiatives, providing valuable insights and guidance.
  • Build trusted partnerships with internal stakeholders and external providers to drive collaboration and success.
  • Communicate change clearly and effectively, engaging stakeholders throughout the transformation journey.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll management within a complex organisation.
  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering payroll process improvements and/or transformation projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence and lead through change.
  • People leadership experience, with a focus on coaching and developing others.
