We are currently assisting them in their search for an experienced Employee Relations professional with a current Legal Practising Certificate and expertise in payroll compliance.

Position Overview:

As the Employee Relations Lead, you will play a key role in advising on workplace relations issues within a collaborative team environment. This role requires a strong focus on Compliance and Regulation, leveraging your legal knowledge, research skills, and industrial relations expertise. You will draw on your experience with large corporate structures, specifically within payroll and HRIS environments, including time and attendance systems. Additionally, you will ensure the organisation's compliance with relevant employment legislation—such as the Fair Work Act, federal and state discrimination laws, and specific requirements relating to long service leave, jury duty, public holidays, and enterprise agreements.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pay compliance reviews, especially for modern award salaried roles.
  • Address regulator inquiries and responses.
  • Ensure industrial instrument configuration readiness and perform testing.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and modern award reforms.
  • Research, analyse, and advise on legal obligations.
  • Implement compliance remediation initiatives.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and develop an auditing program.
  • Develop and implement an employment compliance risk assurance strategy.

About You:

  • Qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with a current practising certificate.
  • Minimum of 4 years of post-admission experience in employment law.
  • Proven experience in payroll compliance.
  • Background in large corporate environments.
  • Proactive, professional, and commercially savvy.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to support and navigate complex organisational structures.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams or leading workplace projects.
