Senior Counsel Opportunity

The role of Senior Counsel is a pivotal position within the Legal and Risk team at a prominent institution. As a key member of the executive portfolio, you will provide high-quality legal advice on employment law matters, including disputes, litigation, and regulatory issues.

This is an opportunity to elevate your expertise in employment law while influencing organizational policies. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including unions, workplace relations teams, and senior management, to drive positive employment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive legal advice on employment law matters, including unfair dismissals, workplace discrimination, and industrial relations issues.
  • Manage pre-court, ADR, and formal proceedings for complex employment-related disputes.
  • Develop and implement industrial relations strategies, including enterprise agreement negotiations and interpretation.
  • Lead pre-litigation strategies, alternative dispute resolution processes, and manage formal proceedings for complex employment-related disputes.
  • Ensure adherence to employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and internal policies, while identifying and mitigating legal risks.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive positive employment outcomes.
Requirements
  • Experience as an employment lawyer or in a related field, with a demonstrated ability to navigate and resolve complex workplace disputes.
  • Strong team-oriented approach, excelling in collaborative environments and able to effectively partner with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in litigation, dispute resolution, and administrative law.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
