The role of Biomedical Engineer involves providing maintenance and repair services to advanced radiation therapy apparatus used in the treatment of cancer. The successful candidate will be part of a small, dedicated team under the direction of the Senior Biomedical Technician. Essential responsibilities include service, repair, and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment, responding flexibly and efficiently to maintain clinical services, communicating openly and effectively with the medical physics and broader clinical team, as well as equipment suppliers and service agents. Additionally, maintaining records in accordance with requirements is crucial.

Key qualifications for this position include a Diploma of Electronics & Communications Engineering (or equivalent) or an Electronics Trade certificate with extensive practical experience, or 5 years' experience in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also required, along with the ability to clearly speak accurate technical advice and guidance to all equipment stakeholders. Furthermore, the candidate must be able to perform repairs and maintenance to radiation oncology equipment including high energy x-ray medical linear accelerators and equipment containing radioactive substances. Availability for necessary training, including overseas training, is also expected. A team player with demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to multitask, prioritise, and respond well to rapid change, is highly desirable.
