About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Urban Planner to join our team at Stantec. As an Urban Planner, you will play a key role in providing technical planning expertise and contributing to multi-disciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage site suitability reports, development applications, and Rezoning Amendments on behalf of clients.
  • Undertake planning-related duties on a range of project types, including land development, infrastructure, and strategic planning projects.
  • Provide mentoring and informal guidance to junior level staff, assist in assigning tasks, providing coaching, and reviewing reports.
  • Work effectively with individuals of diverse disciplines in a cooperative and supportive manner to achieve and meet client expectations.
  • Complete all work in line with Stantec's Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec's Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
  • Deliver excellence to internal and external clients and their communities.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams and work independently as a planning project manager.
  • Business Development – prepare fee proposals and quotes for clients.
  • Project Management – ensure projects are delivered to budget and scope.
  • Recognizing the need for change, being open to new ideas and methods, and championing transformational change within the organization and beyond.
  • Energizing and inspiring others to strive for excellence and commit to common goals and purposes, creating a sense of self-efficacy, resilience, and persistence in followers.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Design, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Proficient in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NSW Planning system and legislation.
  • Experience in statutory and/or strategic planning.
  • Relevant knowledge of Australian standards and legislation.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Interest in working on a broad variety of projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers, and clients.
  • Committed to self-improvement and continuing professional development.
  • Drive and passion to solve problems and produce innovative solutions.
