The Governance team operates within the Governance and Risk Directorate and delivers education across the organisation regarding procurement and governance processes. They collaborate with various units to achieve optimal outcomes for the organisation.

The team is responsible for Access to Information (GIPA) services, planning and executing civic events, policy and delegation management, providing administrative support to Council and committees, offering governance advice, ensuring that Council procurement activities comply with legislation and guidelines, conducting robust tender processes, and effectively managing contracts.

This role provides an opportunity to lead a team of professionals within our Governance unit in delivering effective and efficient governance services in areas such as Corporate Governance, events, Council and committee meetings, administration support, Councillor support, and organisational administration.

To succeed in this position, you will require:

">
  • ">
  • Relevant qualifications in business administration/local government or similar, and/or extensive experience in a comparable role">
  • Experience in local government administration, including coordination of Council and Committee meetings, knowledge of meeting procedures, and practices">
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the administration and interpretation of the Local Government Act and Regulations, providing sound governance advice, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements under the Local Government Act">
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines">
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, written, and communication skills">
  • Proven ability to operate in a complex political environment">
  • Knowledge of legislation related to information management in local government and oversight of Access to Information request management within Council">
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating Councillor briefings, workshops, and civic events as required">
