Key Role in Merchandise Strategy and Vendor Partnerships

This is a critical position within our team, responsible for shaping strategic decisions through specialist negotiation skills.

  • Engage with key stakeholders to agree annual & quarterly priorities for vendor partner engagement,
  • Liaise closely with Commercial finance to formulate a robust terms proposal,
  • Utilize relevant facts and data to build fit-for-purpose vendor Trading Terms proposals that cover the cost of services provided while providing the vendor with fair value for their marketing activities,
  • Collaborate across trading teams to ensure trading terms proposals align with commercial objectives and vendor engagement outcomes have the support of key stakeholders and are aligned to a strategic plan,
  • Lead assigned vendor engagements and manage the end-to-end process in a timely manner considering counter proposals and modifying Metcash proposals as necessary,
  • Validate and communicate Trading Terms outcomes to enable reporting & tracking,
  • Collaborate with the legal team on changes to Trading Terms documentation that have been initiated or to meet legal requirements,
  • Create new trading terms agreements from proposal to sign off stages using Salesforce Trading Terms solution,
  • Be a subject matter expert offering support and guidance to the merchandise team.
Essential Requirements:
  • Solid experience in FMCG, Merchandise Buying or sales,
  • Experience or good knowledge of the Trading Terms process,
  • Excel proficiency, Power BI and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite,
  • Strong communication skills engaging diverse stakeholders and major brand vendors,
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude and collaborative approach,
  • A team player thriving under pressure and delivering results,
  • Flexible balancing competing priorities.
