Cultural Liaison Officer
Job Description:
This is a unique position where you can make a difference by contributing to the understanding of First Nations cultures.
The occupant of this role must hold a strong understanding of First Nations customs and protocols, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will be working closely with police officers and community members to identify opportunities to strengthen community engagement and develop culturally appropriate crime prevention and early intervention strategies.
In addition, you will assist First Nations community members to access policing services and provide advice to QPS members on referral to other community services where necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A strong understanding of First Nations cultures and histories.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including police, community, and government agencies.
- Knowledge of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991) and its implications for First Nations people.
