Employment Opportunity

This state department is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join their Traffic Engineering team based out of their Nerang office. This contract role offers the opportunity to contribute to vital road safety and traffic initiatives across one of Queensland's fastest growing regions, covering the Gold Coast, Logan City, and Scenic Rim.

You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to support traffic and road safety projects aimed at improving road network efficiency, reducing congestion, and maintaining public safety on the state-controlled road network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, analyze, and review traffic and road safety issues across the network.
  • Assist in the delivery of the Road Safety Minor Works Program to ensure value-for-money treatments.
  • Support the development of Road Safety Mass Action Plans, Safer Roads Sooner, and Black Spot project proposals.
  • Provide technical advice on traffic engineering matters, including signage and line marking.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant policies, standards, and legislative requirements.

Successful Candidate

  • A 4-year Washington Accord accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or recognised equivalent.
  • Previous experience or interest in traffic engineering and road safety is highly regarded.
  • A current Class C Driver's Licence.
  • A valid Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
  • Their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable for site visits.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
