Job Overview:

Skillfully lead the preparation of month-end and year-end financial reports, journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger management to ensure accurate and timely delivery.

Expertly prepare high-quality financial statements that adhere to AASB and public sector financial regulations, providing stakeholders with valuable insights into organisational performance.

Collaborate across teams to identify and implement financial efficiencies and process improvements, driving business growth and competitiveness.

Liaise with internal and external auditors, prepare audit documentation, and respond to queries to maintain a transparent and compliant financial management system.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to aid strategic decision-making, enabling informed investment and resource allocation decisions.

Maintain robust financial controls and ensure data integrity across financial systems, safeguarding organisational assets and reputation.

Assist with other core accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, and asset management as required, ensuring seamless financial operations.

About You:

Possess a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, complemented by professional certifications such as CPA or CA (or working towards).

Demonstrate State Government experience, with a proven ability to manage month-end processes and produce compliant financial statements.

Showcase expertise in working with auditors and leading audit preparation, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process.

Display a strong understanding of public sector accounting frameworks, AASB, and financial reporting obligations, staying up-to-date with regulatory changes and developments.

Demonstrate proficiency in financial systems including MS Dynamics / Business Central, Great Plains, Magic Performance, and Jet Reporting, leveraging technology to drive financial excellence.

Exhibit strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, effectively interacting with colleagues, managers, and external partners.

Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, prioritising tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
