About the Role
The Senior Financial Accountant is based at Forensicare's Administration Office, at the Thomas Embling Hospital, Fairfield.
This position operates within the Finance Team in supporting the key day- to-day accounting functions and responsibilities of the finance team as well as providing ad hoc assistance to the Manager, Financial Accounting.
The role is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Manager, Financial Accounting through month-end processes, transactional accounting, budgeting and forecasting and assisting in the completion of timely and accurate internal and external reporting well as the completion and reviewing of reconciliations.
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will:
- Lead the Month End close process, including completion of month-end Journals to ensure an accurate General Ledger and Asset Register.
- Month-end review and analysis of results including completion or review of KPI's balance Sheet and reconciliations.
- Maintain General Ledger and Asset Register
- Manage transactional accounting, supervise and mentor AP and AR accounts officers.
- Provide professional guidance and mentoring to junior staff within wider finance team
- Prepare the monthly financial accounts, internal and external financial performance reports for accountability and control purposes.
- Prepare annual statutory accounts and other external reporting such as MHE, ABS surveys and WorkCover etc.
- Work with finance business partner team in preparation of the Operating and Capital expenditure budgeting and forecasting
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance and accounting and qualified CPA or CA member.
- Demonstrated skills and experience as a Senior Financial Accountant with the capacity to work autonomously and as a member of a team to deliver outcomes and solve problems.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a small team
- Experience in audit processes and compliance reporting in the public sector will be highly regarded.
- Proficiency and extensive experience in using accounting system and software packages.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience with Magiq and Microsoft D365 Business Central will be highly regarded
