Job Opportunity

A Senior Financial Accountant is required to join a State Government organisation in North East Melbourne.

About the Role:

This role involves leading financial reporting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations and ledger management. The successful candidate will also be responsible for preparing high-quality financial statements and ensuring compliance with AASB and public sector financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage month-end and year-end financial reporting processes
  • Prepare accurate and compliant financial statements
  • Collaborate with teams to identify financial efficiencies and process improvements
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Maintain robust financial controls
  • Assist with core accounting functions as required
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • CPA or CA qualified (or working towards)
  • Demonstrated State Government experience
  • Proven ability to manage financial processes and produce compliant financial statements
  • Experience working with auditors
  • Strong understanding of public sector accounting frameworks and financial reporting obligations
  • Proficiency in financial systems, including MS Dynamics / Business Central
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Highly organised and able to work under pressure
