Job Summary:

This role involves handling complex labor relations activities, leading investigations, and resolving employee disputes, including work stoppages. The successful candidate will interpret contracts, enforce work rules, and participate in negotiations to facilitate positive labor relations on the construction project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and administer the Project Enterprise Agreement and enforce work rules, staying up-to-date with employment laws and related legislation.
  • Collaborate with the jobsite Safety representative to implement Environmental, Safety, and Health programs for craft personnel.
  • Work with subcontractor representatives to ensure employment contracts are interpreted correctly and work rules are enforced uniformly.
  • Analyze labor problems, decide on corrective actions, and implement craft process improvement programs to prevent work stoppages and construction schedule delays.
  • Conduct and/or provide guidance in conducting informal and formal grievance hearings in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Interface with the craft workforce, construction leadership, client, and general public.
  • Perform other tasks as designated.
Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Good analytical and strategic planning skills, with the ability to prioritize, pivot, and respond to conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Previous experience in employment relationships, employee or industrial relations, construction trades, leadership skills.
  • HSE legislative knowledge is highly regarded.
  • Experience and demonstrated success in human resources, industrial or employee relations, Workforce Services type roles on a construction site.
  • Training experience within an industrial environment is preferred.
Additional Information:

This position involves working in a dynamic environment with changing conditions, including extensive walking, climbing, and working at heights. The candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task.

This is a non-smoking site, and no tobacco products are permitted to be brought to the site.

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals, the working roster is 3/1.
