Job Overview
The ideal candidate for this pivotal leadership role will oversee the day-to-day operations of a large workshop facility, ensuring safety, quality assurance, and customer service. This involves managing staff, driving continuous improvement, maintaining tight control over costs and efficiency, and fostering a culture of excellence.
This role requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team of mechanics and apprentices. The successful candidate will have extensive experience working within truck fleet workshops, having advanced from technical roles to senior management positions.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with organisational processes, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including fleet management teams, suppliers, and contractors.
- Manage service delivery to meet individual contract requirements.
- Collaborate with leadership teams to enhance performance and improve productivity.
- Promote a culture of safety first and lead by example.
- Engage with a diverse team and foster a positive work environment.
- Motivate and develop staff through hands-on involvement in daily workshop operations.
Requirements
- Extensive experience working within truck fleet workshops, ideally in leadership positions.
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements and upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.
- A strong understanding of SAP and MS Office suite is essential.
- Trade qualifications as a Truck Mechanic specialising in Heavy Commercial Vehicles are required.
- High level of mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, train, and support team development.
- Strong rapport-building skills with stakeholders.
- Dedication to high standards of safety compliance and customer service.
