Senior Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Safety Specialist to join our team at Hancock Agriculture. As a key member of our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team, you will play a pivotal role in leading our HSE Management System and promoting a mature safety culture across our operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead HSE Management System: Develop and implement effective HSE strategies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety, animal welfare, and environmental protection.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Build strong relationships with Property Managers, their teams, and other key stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture and ensure effective communication.
- Enhance Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks, and develop strategies to improve our risk management practices and reduce the likelihood of incidents.
- Investigate Incidents: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, analyze reports, and develop lessons learned to improve our HSE performance.
- Review and Update Documentation: Systematically review and update HSE documentation and records to ensure they are relevant, current, and compliant with national standards and regulations.
- Industry Collaboration: Liaise with industry peers to maintain continuous improvement and best demonstrated practice in HSE.
- Strong HSE Knowledge: Possess a deep understanding of national HSE standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Leadership and Communication: Demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to develop positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Commercial Acumen: Possess strong commercial acumen and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Travel and Work Environment: Be willing to travel regularly within Australia and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Qualifications: Hold tertiary qualifications or equivalent technical experience obtained through a trade qualification.
- Livestock Production/Cropping Industry: Possess broad and comprehensive understanding of primary production risks and a track record of influencing positive HSE outcomes.
- Change Management: Have exposure to structured change management practices and occupational rehabilitation and injury management processes.
- Policies and Procedures: Have experience in drafting and interpreting policies and procedures.
