About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Southern Cross Care QLD. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in driving the integration of safety at our organization and embedding a safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the development and rollout of our new safety platform
  • Support the implementation of key projects
  • Provide project delivery support, ensuring all deadlines and milestones are met
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition
  • Lead a review of our contractor management systems
  • Support and contribute to WHS projects and initiatives aimed at improving safety performance
  • Collaborate with managers and property teams to identify and implement effective risk management strategies
  • Facilitate the embedding of safety policies, procedures, compliance, and risk management practices
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification as a WHS Advisor or a related field (incident investigation, lead auditor preferred)
  • Knowledge or experience in WHS requirements for contractor engagement
  • Previous experience in supporting the implementation of a safety plan
  • Demonstrated experience in health and safety project delivery
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety management systems and software
  • Ability to build rapport easily and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while coordinating with stakeholders and handling competing priorities
  • Previous experience as a WHS Advisor (preferred)
  • Ability to understand, apply, and communicate health and safety requirements, with a strong understanding of WHS legislation in QLD, NSW, and VIC
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly
