At the City of Playford, we are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Building and Compliance team as a Development Officer – Building. This full-time ongoing role offers a competitive salary ranging from $82,921 to $103,434 plus superannuation.
As one of the fastest growing council areas in South Australia, the City of Playford is focused on building sustainable foundations and places the community at the heart of everything we do. Our urban centre serves as the CBD of Northern Adelaide, with a rich diversity of communities in new and established suburbs, rural and hills townships, and horticultural lands.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer the requirements of the Building Code, Australian Standards, and the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and Regulations throughout the City of Playford
- Conduct residential and commercial building inspections
- Evaluate developments against the Building Code, including simple and complex projects
- Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Initiate enforcement action for breaches of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016
- Assist in developing and refining processes and systems of work
To be successful in this role, you will hold or be eligible to obtain Building Level 1, 2, or 3 accreditation and a current Class 1 Driver's Licence. Additionally, you should have:
- A working knowledge of building and compliance related activities
- High level interpersonal, customer service, and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholder groups
- Experience undertaking building inspections
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Passion for public service, community safety, and compliance in the local community
