
Scientific Operations Lead

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:- Staff Management: Manage laboratory staff, coordinate workflow to meet customer expectations and ensure efficient operation.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform equipment maintenance, calibrations and conduct QHSE training and toolbox talks to maintain a safe working environment.
- Training Programs: Plan, write and deliver training programs for employees, trainees and lower technical levels to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Routine Test Work: Coordinate and manage routine test work within set guidelines and priorities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Team Supervision: Supervise and lead a team, maintaining/updating work/accommodation rosters to optimize productivity and efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- ISO 17025 Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ISO 17025 requirements.
- Laboratory Procedures: Good working knowledge of laboratory procedures and sampling techniques.
- Quality Control/Assurance: Understanding and implementation of quality control/assurance procedures, occupational health and safety, and environmental principles and procedures.
- Leadership: Ability to manage a large number of staff in a mining laboratory environment, proactively managing staff in a 'hands-on' manner.
- Training Programs: Demonstrated ability to organize structured competency-based training programs.
