About the Opportunity

This role presents an exceptional chance to make a meaningful impact on conservation and community engagement.

As a key member of a collaborative team, you will work closely with landowners to support and facilitate environmental initiatives through various programs.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the Sunshine Coast region's ecology, including flora and fauna identification skills, is essential for this role.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams are crucial.
  • Providing sound environmental advice, recommendations, and extension services to both internal and external stakeholders is a core responsibility.
  • You will be responsible for implementing the Land for Wildlife Program and associated incentives programs, as well as organizing member events for the Sunshine Coast Council, in accordance with the Land for Wildlife South East Queensland Program guidelines and plans.
About You

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Sound knowledge of natural ecosystems on the Sunshine Coast, including flora and fauna identification skills.
  • A good understanding of the processes impacting biodiversity values on the Sunshine Coast and strategies to address them.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, which will be vital in delivering positive outcomes in partnership with a highly collaborative team and the community.
  • The ability to negotiate on-ground outcomes with private landholders.

Candidates should hold a tertiary degree qualification in Environmental Sciences or an equivalent qualification and/or experience deemed suitable by the Manager of Environmental Operations. Appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
