We are seeking a skilled System Reliability Specialist to join our Database Operations team at Palantir Technologies.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable systems, diagnosing and resolving production issues, and participating in on-call rotations. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a range of products and business use cases, developing operational and systems skills that are valuable across the industry.
This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the performance, stability, and costs of Palantir's services at a large scale. The ideal candidate will have expertise in pre-existing systems, including their edge cases, failure modes, and life cycles, as well as experience modifying core services and infrastructure to improve stability and performance.
Key Responsibilities- Build expertise on existing systems and develop strategies to improve their reliability and scalability.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and implement scalable solutions.
- Participate in operations, including on-call rotations and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Migrate infrastructure, upgrade major versions, and right-size to optimize cost and performance.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently using observability tools and stack traces.
- Experience identifying and removing toil.
- Familiarity with load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, and configuration management.
- Ability to work autonomously in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop improvements to services.
- Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or similar field.
- Familiarity with storage and data processing systems, cloud infrastructure, and other technical tools.
- Experience with monitoring systems using tools like Prometheus and writing health checks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
