We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Mine Planning Specialist.

This role will involve providing guidance, training and mentorship to the mine planning team and other technical disciplines. You will leverage your advanced understanding of mining engineering principles to guide the development of design surfaces, schedules and costs for life of mine, tailings and closure plans following industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Team Support and Development: Provide expert guidance, training and mentorship to the mine planning team and other technical disciplines. Develop and implement core processes to ensure technical standards are upheld.
  2. Proposal Development: Lead the proposal development process by outlining work scopes and estimating project schedules and costs. Prepare, review and authenticate advanced technical documentation and reports.
  3. Project Management: Manage all aspects of projects, including budget, scope and schedule. Facilitate workshops and conduct risk assessments and analyses with various stakeholders and external project support.
  4. Stakeholder Interaction: Engage competently with internal and external stakeholders who possess varying levels of expertise. Foster strong relationships with clients to generate new leads, opportunities or referrals.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of mine planning first principles and extensive experience in mine and/or tailings planning.
  • Experience in operational or closure phases within the mining industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and legislative frameworks.
  • Strong project management skills and eagerness to lead interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Comfortable coordinating with peers and clients across different time zones.
  • Advanced skills in mine planning software, such as Hexagon MinePlan and/or Deswik.CAD.
  • Leadership skills at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Experience in operating mines and consulting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to travel for workshops, client meetings and site visits when needed.
  • A tertiary qualification in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering.
