Role Overview

This is a unique opportunity to work in a role that fosters meaningful connections with First Nations people and organisations within the region. As a Cultural Broker, you will contribute to improving and implementing Indigenous Participation Plans and support the delivery of First Nations-related requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Improving the Indigenous Participation Plan: Work with regional partners to update the plan based on feedback from stakeholders.
  • Building Community: Strengthen connections with First Nations people and organisations across the region to build trust and collaboration.
  • Implementing the Deed: Lead the implementation of First Nations-related requirements, including engagement, co-design activities, and respecting Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property.
  • Cultural Competency Training: Provide training to improve cultural competency and tackle barriers.
  • Supporting Employment and Leadership: Help increase First Nations employment and leadership by focusing on knowledge transfer and capacity building.
  • Meeting Targets: Assist in achieving First Nations employment and supplier use targets.
  • Communication Channels: Set up and improve communication channels between First Nations communities and the organisation.
  • Finding Mutual Benefits: Identify areas where both the First Nations community and the organisation can benefit.

Essential requirements include being of Aboriginal descent, having proven experience in community engagement and collaboration with First Nations people and organisations, advanced communication and community engagement skills, proficient project management skills, and current NSW Class C Driver Licence.
