Senior Environmental Specialist

As a key contributor to the delivery of our Strategic Plan and Environmental Strategy, we are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Specialist to lead our environmental team.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, policies, and guidelines through effective project management and auditing processes.
  • Develop and implement environmental projects, including scope development, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, and audits under relevant environmental frameworks, providing detailed reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyse and manage environmental data to inform strategic decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Design and deliver environmental training programs for various stakeholders, promoting best practices and awareness.
  • Maintain our Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 standards, ensuring ongoing improvement and certification.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Management, or Engineering is essential for this role.
  • At least 5 years' experience in environmental management within heavy industry or port settings is required.
  • A strong understanding of environmental legislation and best practices is critical to success in this position.
  • Proven experience in managing environmental aspects such as dust, water, and waste is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels, are necessary for this role.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive reports and board papers, are essential for this position.
