We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic professional to join our Residential Services Team in Homelessness Melbourne Metro (HMM) — working across The Open Door and Flagstaff programs.

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position, based in The Open Door in North Melbourne and Flagstaff, VIC. As a Community Support Worker, you will be instrumental in creating a trauma-informed, strength-based environment where residents are supported to regain control of their lives and move towards sustainable, independent living.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group support to residents, promoting independent living skills, well-being, recreation, and social engagement.
  • Plan and facilitate group activities that meet residents' social, health, educational, and recreational needs.
  • Support access to internal and external services, including health, mental health, AOD, and therapeutic programs.
  • Collaborate with caseworkers and partner services, contributing to a positive, supportive community environment.
  • Maintain accurate records, manage risks appropriately, participate in rostered tasks, and foster a respectful team culture.

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or a related field.
  • Experience in homelessness or housing services (desirable).
  • A collaborative and person-centred approach, with strong emotional intelligence.
  • A practical understanding of trauma-informed care and strengths-based practice.
  • Ability to build rapport and navigate challenging or high-risk situations with professionalism and care.
  • A Current Working with Children's Check (or willingness to obtain).
