Aboriginal Health Policy and Strategy Lead

Job Opportunity:
The Department of Health is seeking an experienced professional to lead policy and strategy development for the Aboriginal Health Division. This role will drive transformation in the health system to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal people and their families living in Victoria.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, with experience in facilitation, collaboration, and negotiation. They will be able to work flexibly and creatively to respond to emerging issues and systemic barriers. The role requires strong analytical and writing skills, as well as the ability to provide high-quality business intelligence and authoritative advice to senior management and government.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing high-quality business intelligence and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government
- Overseeing the development of policy and initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with external stakeholders
- Enabling self-determination of Aboriginal communities in relation to health services and policies
- Maintaining knowledge of legislative and policy reform directions to influence policy development
- Representing the department on key stakeholder committees and contributing to relevant governance processes
This is a critical role that requires a deep understanding of Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing, as well as the ability to collaborate with and harness the collective insights of the department, health services, and other external stakeholders.
