Aboriginal Policy Reform Lead

This position is key to reducing Aboriginal over-representation in the youth justice system through strategic policy development and implementation.
- The Senior Policy Lead will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of Wirkara Kulpa – Victoria's first Aboriginal Youth Justice Strategy.
- This role involves driving analysis and insights on Aboriginal youth in the justice system, collaborating with key stakeholders including the Aboriginal Justice Forum.
Key Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will prepare high-level policy advice, reports, and presentations for departmental executives and ministers on sensitive and complex matters.
- This position requires leading coordination and provision of timely and strategic advice on high-priority, high-profile reforms designed to reduce Aboriginal over-representation in the youth justice system.
- The Senior Policy Lead will collect, analyze, and disseminate data related to Aboriginal children and young people in contact with the youth justice system, engaging key stakeholder groups.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and evaluation is essential.
- Significant experience in Victorian Government administrative processes, understanding of key Aboriginal governance mechanisms is highly desirable.
- A strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society, understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal Victorians is required.
- Experience supporting Aboriginal communities and advisory groups, including awareness of culturally sensitive engagement practices is necessary.
