Support Young People in Education and Training

This role requires a Youth Transition Officer to work closely with Court Liaison Officers, supporting young people in the youth justice system to engage or re-engage with education and training. The officer will provide support to young people and their families, ensuring they are well-informed of their available options for viable education and training pathways.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable young people from diverse and complex backgrounds, including First Nations young persons, young persons with disability, and young persons in care. They will be able to work collaboratively with schools to interpret and enact departmental policies, practices, and procedures relating to vulnerable young people, ensuring they remain engaged in education.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and contribute to the delivery of education and training programs that meet their needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Court Liaison Officers to support young people in the youth justice system to engage or re-engage with education and training.
  • Providing support to young people and their families to ensure they are well-informed of their available options relating to viable education and training pathways.
  • Working with and supporting the needs of vulnerable young people from diverse and complex backgrounds.
  • Supporting schools to interpret and enact departmental policies, practices, and procedures relating to vulnerable young people.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders. You will also need to be highly organized and able to manage competing priorities.
