Job Title: Youth Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Development Specialist to lead and inspire our team, ensuring the successful delivery of programs and services that address the needs and aspirations of young people in our community.

About the Role:
  • Lead & Inspire: Provide strategic leadership, guidance, and support to a team of youth development staff, ensuring the successful delivery of programs and services.
  • Diverse Programs: Oversee a range of initiatives, including training and information workshops, arts programs, drop-in and gaming sessions, up-skill programs, case management, and youth events.
  • Engage & Empower: Coordinate the City's Youth Reference Group, giving a voice to local young people and fostering a strong connection with the community.
  • Facility Management: Utilise your expertise to activate and manage the City's Youth Centre, ensuring it remains a hub of activity and engagement for young people.
  • Professional Growth: Work in an environment that supports your career development, offering opportunities for training, development, and advancement in the community development sector.

You will be responsible for coordinating activities aligned with the City's Strategy for Early Years, Children, and Young People 2024 - 2030. This includes overseeing the day-to-day staffing, operations, and programming at the Rockingham Youth Centre, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming, and innovative space for young people.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A proven track record of leading and managing teams in a youth development context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including young people, staff, and community members.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
  • A deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of young people, with a commitment to providing high-quality services that meet their needs.
