Our schools are designed to re-engage and support students who have had difficulty attending mainstream education. Our goal is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates and possess the personal and social skills required to progress, be that TAFE, employment, training or an apprenticeship.

The role

We are seeking a full-time Teacher / Trainer to support and engage with local young people attending Youth Futures Community Schools in our Midland hub.

Our education programs and schools are designed to re-engage and support students who have had difficulty in attending mainstream education. Our goal is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates and possess the personal and social skills required to progress, be that TAFE, employment, training or an apprenticeship.

The main educational focus will be around functional literacy and numeracy as required in an adapted school curriculum and/or the Certificate of General Education Adults (CGEA).

There may be scope to contribute to and deliver other areas of the curriculum as required. Expert engagement skills, development of learning materials and the delivery of CGEA I,II,III packages will be paramount to your success in this role. All CGEA resources and learning material is prepared by our Registered Training Organisation, Futures Education and Training RTO: 52833

At Youth Futures we do things differently, we create a safe environment where students can access the support required to overcome barriers in their personal life while gaining an education. This approach is underpinned by:

· Nationally Accredited and Recognised Courses

· Student Centred Practice - Self-paced and tailored learning to meet the individual needs of the student

· Holistic Approach - Youth Workers, Clinical Psychologists and more

· Life Skills - We help prepare students for life after school

· Small Classes, one on one learning, no chalk and talk

We are looking for someone who:

· Understands what is needed to help students who have become disengaged from mainstream education and possess significant barriers preventing re-engagement

· Has the relevant knowledge and skills to tailor programs for disengaged young people and address years of educational deficit

· Can demonstrate their ability to engage and work with at-risk students who may present some challenging behaviours

· Is passionate about re-engaging students through the fostering of positive and professional relationships

· Is experienced in delivering curriculum support to students with low numeracy and literacy levels

· Will ensure their practice is consistent with cultural, gender, developmental and other individual needs

· Has highly developed communication skills

Essential Qualifications:

· AQF Level 7 or above teaching qualification or demonstrated knowledge of the theory of literacy and numeracy development and its application.

· Current registration with TRBWA

· Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40122, 40116 or 40110

· Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate

· Valid NCCHC (Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check)

· Valid National Police Clearance (less than 3 months old)

· Valid Working with Children's Check

· Current 'C' class WA driver's licence

· Permanent Australian work rights with no restrictions

The base rate for this position is dependent on qualifications and experience, with additional generous salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 for general living expenses and an additional $2,650 for entertainment benefits per annum).
