Job Description

The Child Wellbeing Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children and young people within the Southern NSW Local Health District.

This position is responsible for leading the development and management of systems to support LHD services in fulfilling their responsibilities regarding child safety, welfare, and wellbeing concerns.

Key objectives include:

  • Leading the improvement of systems to support child safety, welfare, and wellbeing.
  • Developing and delivering education and training programs for LHD staff to enhance their capacity to respond to vulnerable children and their families.

This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, as well as strong education and systems improvement skills.

The successful candidate will have experience working with trauma-informed service delivery settings and a strong understanding of child protection and wellbeing principles and practices.


Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist or relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work or Counselling with eligibility to the respective Australian professional association.
  • Demonstrated high-level understanding and post-graduate clinical experience of inter-related dynamics and effects of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child protection.
  • Extensive experience in providing specialist consultation to staff in the area of trauma-informed service delivery settings and specialist knowledge and understanding of child protection and wellbeing principles and practices.
  • Experience in developing, planning, implementing, delivering, and evaluating training programs.
  • Strong commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
