
Child Protection Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our team. The role is a temporary full-time or part-time position, and the successful candidate will be based at Ingleburn Community Health Centre.
Key Responsibilities:- To provide specialist counselling and interventions to improve the emotional, social, and mental wellbeing of children, young people, parents/carers, and their families where there has been a confirmed history of violence and neglect.
- To provide trauma-informed interventions and responses, case coordination, client-focused advocacy, liaison, and consultation.
- To consult with other health professionals as part of the service delivery team.
The ideal candidate will have extensive postgraduate clinical experience in providing counselling, groupwork, parenting, and case management interventions to clients where child protection, violence, neglect, and trauma incidents have occurred.
Requirements:- A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child protection issues including relevant legislation and guidelines and the appropriate response for clinical practice.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with difficult and involuntary clients.
- Ability to manage a challenging workload and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgment when dealing with novel or critical situations.
- High-level communication skills and computer literacy.
