What You'll Be Doing

The SNSWLHD Child Wellbeing Coordinator leads, develops and manages the improvement of systems to support LHD services in fulfilling their responsibilities to recognise and respond to child safety, welfare and wellbeing concerns, including responsibilities around sharing information within and outside the LHD.

This role has a high level clinical focus and also includes education and systems improvement responsibilities. The SNSWLHD Child Wellbeing Coordinator assists in the development, delivery and evaluation of education and training programs for LHD staff that build capacity of staff to respond to the needs of vulnerable children and their families in the context of the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people. This role is one of the lead Child Protection educators in the LHD.

Selection Criteria
  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist OR relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work or counselling with eligibility to the respective Australian professional association.
  • Demonstrated high level understanding and post-graduate clinical experience of the inter-related dynamics and effects of domestic violence, sexual assault and child protection and best practice models for clients who have experienced trauma.
  • Extensive experience in providing specialist consultation to staff in the area of trauma informed service delivery settings and specialist knowledge and understanding of child protection and wellbeing principles and practices, and of relevant legislation and NSW Health policy, procedures and guidelines.
  • Experience in the development, planning, implementing, delivering and evaluating training programs. This includes a commitment to quality improvement and leading the implementation of evidence based practice and trauma focused service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in and commitment to service development, quality improvement and leading the implementation of evidence based practice.
  • Extensive knowledge, clinical proficiency and ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, taking leadership in decision making. This includes performing complex and critical clinical work with a high level of professional knowledge and substantial professional judgement.
  • A demonstrated ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders to optimise Health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
  • Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires, including long distances and overnight stays.
