The Role


We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our Darwin office, as part of our Ecology team. This role will involve working on a variety of projects with a range of technical specialists.



About the Position


The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality services and advice to clients and colleagues in ecology and biodiversity matters. You will have an excellent understanding of Northern Territory and Northern Australia flora and fauna and be able to apply these skills to field and office-based tasks.



Key Responsibilities


You will be responsible for:



  • Providing high-quality services and advice to clients and colleagues in ecology and biodiversity matters
  • Designing and leading field survey programs to collect ecological data
  • Supporting the Northern Australia ecology and biodiversity team in field project delivery, data interpretation, and report reviews
  • Interpreting and applying environmental legislation to various projects
  • Developing technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and their implications for environmental impact assessment and management
  • Collaborating with regulating bodies at Territory and Federal levels on technical matters
  • Preparing tenders and proposals
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies
  • Providing leadership and guidance to junior staff
  • Traveling to remote areas for field survey programs


Requirements


We are looking for someone with:



  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field
  • At least 9 years of experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government
  • Excellent flora and fauna identification skills
  • Mature report writing and computer skills
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks
  • Proven project management experience in client management and budget control
