About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Policy Development Specialist to join our team at the Office of the Chief Minister. As a key member of our policy team, you will provide strategic and operational advice on the development, implementation, and valuation of government policy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational advice on the development, implementation, and valuation of government policy initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental briefings with or on behalf of the Minister on matters related to the portfolio and parliamentary responsibilities.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, speeches, and correspondence, including Ministerial and Legislative Assembly briefings.
  • Research, analyse, and develop new policy initiatives that align and support the values and objectives of the Northern Territory Government.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with departmental officials, key stakeholders, ministerial staff, and other external parties.
  • Demonstrate and model the highest standards of discretion and personal integrity.

Requirements

  • Background and experience in government, public policy, parliamentary offices, or the preparation of policy advice.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise advice.
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality and accuracy of information presented to the Minister.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work productively and collaboratively in a small team.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive matters and show sound judgement.
