About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled orthoptist to join our Paediatric Surgery – Ophthalmology team at the Women's and Children's Health Network.

As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality ophthalmic care to children and adolescents, investigating and managing paediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility conditions, contributing to the effective operation of outpatient clinics, and participating in community outreach clinics as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing expert-level ophthalmic care to children and adolescents with complex eye conditions
  • Investigating and managing paediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility conditions, including strabismus, amblyopia, and refractive errors
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures related to paediatric ophthalmology
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for patients and their families
Requirements
  • A Bachelor or Master's degree in Orthoptics, registered with the Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB)
  • Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in paediatric ophthalmology, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and healthcare professionals
  • A strong understanding of paediatric ophthalmology principles, practices, and research
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
