Clinical Lead in Paediatric Eye Screening and Orthoptics

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Lead to join our team as a Senior Orthoptist – Community Outreach Lead. As a key member of the Ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality ophthalmic care to patients at the Women and Children's Health Network.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Ophthalmology team to ensure seamless delivery of patient care.
- Investigate and manage paediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility conditions.
- Support the effective operation of Ophthalmology outpatient clinics.
- Lead the community outreach service, providing specialist paediatric eye screening in metropolitan Adelaide.
- Oversee placements for undergraduate Orthoptists from Australian universities.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- An appropriate degree or Master’s qualification in Orthoptics, enabling registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board.
- Extensive experience in paediatric orthoptics, including strabismus, amblyopia, and refractive error assessment.
- A deep understanding of orthoptic assessment procedures, such as Humphrey Visual Fields and OCTs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with peers and staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyse clinical data and apply specialist skills to resolve complex issues.
- Experience in managing and overseeing junior staff.
