About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Lead to join our team as a Senior Orthoptist – Community Outreach Lead. As a key member of the Ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality ophthalmic care to patients at the Women and Children's Health Network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Ophthalmology team to ensure seamless delivery of patient care.
  • Investigate and manage paediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility conditions.
  • Support the effective operation of Ophthalmology outpatient clinics.
  • Lead the community outreach service, providing specialist paediatric eye screening in metropolitan Adelaide.
  • Oversee placements for undergraduate Orthoptists from Australian universities.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • An appropriate degree or Master’s qualification in Orthoptics, enabling registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board.
  • Extensive experience in paediatric orthoptics, including strabismus, amblyopia, and refractive error assessment.
  • A deep understanding of orthoptic assessment procedures, such as Humphrey Visual Fields and OCTs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with peers and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse clinical data and apply specialist skills to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience in managing and overseeing junior staff.
