Indigenous Research Specialist

UNSW Australia is seeking an Indigenous Research Fellow (Identified) to join our team.
About the RoleThis is a national research infrastructure project being developed by researchers at the UNSW School of the Arts & Media in collaboration with the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and university and industry partners across the country.
The Indigenous Research Fellow (Identified) will provide Indigenous research and governance expertise to the ACHF, a new initiative to secure and augment Australia's cultural data.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expertise in Indigenous data governance to support the co-design, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems across ACHF infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Indigenous leads at university and industry partners.
- Nurture trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge holders and organisations, strengthen existing partnerships, and build new connections where relevant.
- Establish and manage a consultation process with industry on Indigenous data governance for the cultural data sector, ranging from small arts organisations to large GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) institutions.
- Play a key role in the development and trajectory of the ACHF project to ensure it achieves its KPIs.
- Collaborate with ACHF project partners in the development and delivery of capacity building activities regarding the application of CARE principles, Indigenous Data Governance and Sovereignty, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP), to the cultural data sector, building on existing work being done by the Lowitja Institute, Maiam nayri Wingara, and the Indigenous Data Network as well as the Australian Public Service Framework for Governance of Indigenous Data.
