Estimator Job Summary

This role involves preparing detailed and competitive tenders to support the growth and success of our business. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive estimates that meet high-quality standards and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough estimating processes to ensure accurate and reliable estimates
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers for tender negotiations and coordination
  • Manage the bid process, ensuring tenders are presented effectively
  • Collaborate with team members, subcontractors, and suppliers to identify opportunities for added value
  • Provide insights and advice on practical construction methods, including project methodologies and scheduling
  • Assess risks and opportunities to refine and improve estimates
  • Participate in pre- and post-tender negotiations to secure favorable outcomes
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and improve processes
  • Build and maintain relationships within the industry to stay updated on market trends, pricing, and new entrants

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field (desired)
  • At least 5 years of civil estimating experience, particularly in Southeast Queensland
  • Expertise in first-principles estimating, especially for earthworks
  • Proficiency in using Pronamics Expert Estimation software
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to outperform competitors, rather than just competing on cost
  • Strong team player committed to achieving both corporate and client goals
  • Advanced skills in planning, reporting, and analysis
  • Expertise in relationship management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving, with the ability to think creatively
