About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Risk Management Specialist to join our team at Viva Energy Australia.

Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that involves working with our Supply Chain and Retail businesses to deliver soil and groundwater risk management programs. You will work on complex environmental and remediation projects at key Supply Chain and Retail sites, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving Goal Zero across all projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective risk management strategies for reducing soil and groundwater liabilities, in collaboration with 3rd party consultants.
  • Maintain relationships with regulators, internal and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective remediation strategies.
  • Oversee the remediation of sites for divestment, managing third-party environmental services consultants and their performance within approved budgets.
  • Work closely with Operations and Engineering teams to ensure early engagement with the Environment team for smooth regulatory planning processes.
  • Identify regional key soil and groundwater issues, business priorities, and projects.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for sites with licence commitments.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in environmental risk management or a related field.
  • An Environmental/Engineering/Science/Technical degree, preferably in environmental management or science.
  • Knowledge of S&G risk management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and legislative processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and credibility with stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders effectively and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Deliver results through others, with strong leadership and project management skills.
