Government Sales Specialist Role Overview

This position involves driving the sales cycle for a defined set of federal government accounts, from identifying opportunities to closing strategic deals. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in enterprise or public sector solution selling, ideally in SaaS, analytics, or data platforms.

The role requires building strong, trusted relationships with key public sector decision-makers, influencers, and executives, as well as collaborating cross-functionally with BDRs, Pre-Sales, Legal, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to deliver impactful, value-led engagements.

  • Develop tailored account plans aligned to government goals, procurement processes, and stakeholder priorities.
  • Showcase Tableau's capabilities in solving real-world government data challenges—driving transformation across services and departments.

Maintain high standards of CRM forecasting and account documentation, enabling proactive and data-driven sales strategies. Work closely with a Canberra-based team to lead engagements with government clients and collaborate across Salesforce teams.

About the Role Requirements
  • Prior experience working with or selling into federal government agencies (APS experience highly desirable).
  • Understanding of government procurement, funding cycles, and digital transformation objectives.
  • A strong interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills, especially within structured, complex organisations.
