From relationship counselling to family support, we are dedicated to helping people build stronger, more resilient communities.
About the Role
We are seeking a Counsellor-Generalist to join our team in Brisbane North. As a Counsellor-Generalist, you will play a vital role in supporting couples, families, and individuals who are experiencing relationship challenges, separation, or divorce. Your expertise will help clients navigate complex emotions and develop strategies to improve their relationships and parenting skills. You will also contribute to service improvement initiatives and participate in collaborative team work. Responsibilities
- Conduct outcomes-based and client risk assessments while maintaining accurate records.
- Develop counselling goals and case plans to enhance self-awareness and address relationship and parenting issues.
- Ensure timely achievement of service targets and actively participate in team meetings and professional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues on service planning and contribute to the continuous improvement of policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or similar (this is an essential requirement of the role).
- Postgraduate qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or similar (beneficial).
- Eligible for professional membership with APS, AASW, ACA, or other relevant professional body.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Blue Card.
- Current Queensland Driver Licence and own reliable vehicle.
- Ability and willingness to travel within the service region.
- Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours.
About You
- Well-developed knowledge and skills in counselling, including an understanding of relevant systems, principles, key legislation, and mainstream practices.
- Experience in conducting client risk and outcome-based assessments.
- Proven ability to provide solution-focused brief therapy interventions.
- Ability to work within a child-focused and whole-of-family framework.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to consult, negotiate, and liaise effectively with diverse individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, sharing knowledge and fostering a positive, client-focused culture.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
