About the Quality Role
We are seeking a Senior Quality Specialist to support our quality excellence in a production-driven environment, bridging the gap between traditional maintenance practices and a scalable mindset.
This role is critical in leading quality initiatives and embedding a culture of First Time Quality (FTQ) tailored to the complexities of an MRO-production hybrid setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and drive quality projects and initiatives aligned with the strategic plan, focusing on scalability, repeatability, and compliance in a production-intensive MRO setting.
- Present quality project plans, technical roadmaps, risk assessments, and recommendations that address the challenges of balancing production throughput with stringent MRO quality standards.
- Influence decision-making processes that reconcile differing priorities and workflows of MRO and production teams.
- Train internal teams to build capabilities supporting a shift towards a production mindset while maintaining MRO quality rigor.
- Review and validate product non-conformances, dispositions, quality procedures, and engineering requirements, ensuring alignment with both production and MRO regulatory frameworks.
- Analyze product, process, and operational quality against QMS requirements, contract obligations, and government regulations.
- Lead root cause analysis efforts for process non-conformances, collaborating with technical experts to implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships across teams to support integrated quality objectives.
- Collaborate with Quality team members to meet program targets, balancing production schedules with MRO quality demands.
Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience in Quality Management Systems within aviation, aerospace production, or MRO environments, with a strong understanding of shifting mindsets.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, aviation, quality management, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in ISO 9001 and AS 9100 standards, applied in both production and MRO contexts.
- Working knowledge of Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) Parts 145, 21J, and familiarity with Part 21G equivalents.
- A proactive approach with ability to resolve complex quality issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage senior stakeholders.
- Experience coaching team members to adapt to changing operational mindsets and quality expectations.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills under pressure.
- Australian Citizenship, with ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance.
