Pre-Opening Maintenance Manager

Be part of a landmark hotel opening in one of Victoria's most exciting waterfront destinations.

We are seeking a master multi-tasker with repair skills to lead and coach a small but talented engineering team to stay one step ahead of our everyday maintenance needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct facilities inspections, identify defects in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, FF&E, and coordinate with contractors and vendors on repairs or installations prior to opening.
  • Oversee procurement of hotel equipment and machinery, ensuring all equipment is installed and in working order prior to opening.
  • Ensure the hotel meets safety and regulatory requirements, including compliance with building codes, fire safety regulations, and health standards.
  • Recruit and onboard key maintenance team members, coordinating training to ensure they are set up for success from day one.
  • Maintain and order parts and supplies while minimizing waste and meeting green initiatives.
  • Develop budgets and forecasts for the maintenance department, collaborating with the hotel finance team.
  • Liaise with contractors and vendors to develop and maintain maintenance agreements and good working relationships.
  • Create a preventative maintenance program to provide a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for guests.
Requirements:
  • Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certification and license if required by law.
  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and passion for developing teams.
  • Strategic thinking, ability to explore new ways of working, and an open mind around driving the hotel forward.
  • Must be fluent in English and other languages preferred.
  • Full working rights in Australia without restrictions.
