Lead Resource Recovery Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated professional to spearhead our Resource Recovery & Waste management initiative, driving sustainability and efficiency in our community.

In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of:

  • Coordinating operations of multiple transfer station locations within the Yass Valley region.
  • Capturing kerbside domestic waste/recycling and commercial waste streams.
  • Managing staff rosters, programming works, staff training, and ensuring effective, efficient, and safe waste delivery operations.
  • Collaborating with recycling and other contractors involved in waste management functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, focusing on Best Practice Performance of waste and resource recovery infrastructure.
  • Liaising and consulting with the community and stakeholders on waste management proposals and issues.
  • Developing and implementing sustainable waste management initiatives and projects plans.
  • Establishing productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing expert advice and recommendations on continuous improvement of the resource recovery and waste management program.

Work Environment (for eligible employees):

  • A 35-hour working week over a 9-day fortnight.
  • Access to 6.5 weeks long service leave after 5 years.
  • Four weeks paid annual leave.
  • Three weeks sick leave per year, cumulative where unused.
  • Two health and wellbeing days (taken from sick leave entitlements).
